skeyes renews the Instrument Landing System of runway 25R
The ILS ( Instrument Landing System ) of runway 25R is at the end of its lifetime and will be renewed. The renewal project (managed by skeyes) is planned between 23 March and 16 September 2026. It includes civil works, installation works, tuning, testing and commissioning of the new ILS.
Due to these works, the ILS for runway 25R will not be operational during this period.
Its replacement will not affect the preferred runway system or trajectories.
Runway 25R will remain available for departures and arrivals via een RNP (Required Navigation Performance)-approach.
To enable works on the localizer at the end of runway 25R, the RESA (Runway End Safety Area) will be temporarily shortened. The minimum required length of 90 metres and the recommended length of 240 metres will be guaranteed at all times, in accordance with the EASA certification specifications.

Brussels Airport and skeyes begin demonstration flights with steeper and innovative approach trajectories
Brussels Airport and air navigation service provider (ANSP) skeyes will commence demonstration flights as part of the HERON project from 1st October. The aim of these flights is to assess whether landings with a steeper approach than usual could offer benefits in terms of reducing noise impact for surrounding communities, as well as lowering CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
