Short maintenance works on 25R/07L
At Brussels Airport, all runways and taxiways are continuously inspected by the relevant departments to continue to guarantee the safety of the passengers and the operations. If damage or irregularities to the runway pavement are detected, an assessment is made as to the urgency of an intervention.
Following such an assessment, it was decided to carry out short-term maintenance works on runway 25R/07L to ensure the runway’s continued operability. As a result, the runway will be closed between Friday 13 September at 1 p.m. until Sunday 15 September at 5 a.m. Due to the proximity of the works to the intersection with runway 01/19, runway 01/19 also needs to be closed between 14 September at 11 p.m. until 15 September at 5 a.m.
The works will have an impact on runway use, meaning that the PRS (Preferential Runway System) cannot always be followed and delays in operations may occur. An overview of the forecasted runway use will be provided in due time in the section ‘Works’.
The selection of runways in use is made by the air navigation service provider skeyes, based on runway availability and weather conditions, with the primary aim of ensuring air traffic safety. During the execution of works, the effective runway use may differ from the forecast. This will be available for consultation in the section ‘Runways in Use’.
All works are scheduled so as to minimise their impact on operations and on the PRS as much as possible. If several works need to be carried out, they will be coordinated simultaneously wherever possible.
Runway use, wind conditions, any planned works and their potential impact on runway use are always announced on this website.
Update
Due to unforeseen circumstances, maintenance works on runway 25R/07L will be extended until 16 September 5 a.m., instead of 15 September 5 a.m.
