As of the end of October, Brussels Airport plans to carry out renovation works on runway 07L/25R. Work includes the replacement of the runway lighting cables, local repairs to drainage pipes and joint fillings as well as the renovation of 3 taxiways.
The maintenance works will be carried out during 8 consecutive weekends starting in the weekend of 20 to 21 October and ending in the weekend of 8 to 9 December from Saturday 6 am to Sunday 7 pm.
In the event that work is finished earlier than scheduled, runway 07L/25R will be put back into service as soon as possible.
The works can be shut down in exceptional weather conditions, enabling runway 07L/25R to be reinstated (e.g. in low visibility, snow etc.).
As a result of the works on runway 07L/25R, it will not always be possible to apply the preferential runway system during these weekends.
CURRENT SITUATION ACCORDING TO THE PREFERENTIAL RUNWAY USE SYSTEM
- Normal runway use - runway 25R for take off and runway 25L for landing.
- Alternative runway use - runway 07R for take off and runway 01 for landing.
RUNWAY USE DURING THE WORKS (Runway 07L/25R closed)
Normal runway use: runway 19 will be used for take off and landing.
Alternative runway use 1: if the above is not possible, runway 01 will be used for landing and runway 07R for take off.
Alternative runway use 2: if the volume of arriving and departing aircraft is very low and the wind conditions allow for it, a second alternative mode may be used.
